The healthy avifaunal community consists of at least 80 bird species that take up residence or frequent the reserve including rare species such as the Peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus). Late last year (2010) we finally had a confirmed sighting in KRCA of the Southern Double-collared Sunbird, a known pollinator of the Erica verticillata (extinct in the wild), this magical moment was repeated earlier this year when approximately eight were spotted in the area of the Ericas.
